EVENT WILL MAKE THE CASE FOR MUCH-NEEDED NEW HOMES AT FLAXBY PARK

Event organised to highlight the case for homes at Flaxby Park

The developer behind Flaxby Park, which plans to transform Flaxby’s disused golf course into a new sustainable community creating new homes and jobs, will be showcasing why the scheme has attracted such high-levels of support, at an event this Saturday.

Flaxby Park Ltd submitted an application at the end of 2017, which would see 2,750 high quality homes along with a retirement village, two primary schools, a GP surgery, sports facilities, a hotel and a new village centre created on the brownfield site.

The plans, which have garnered a huge level of support, will be displayed at The Imperial Rooms, Bettys, in Harrogate Town Centre this Saturday 15th September between 1pm and 3pm. Anyone interested in attending should email their details to RSVP@flaxbypark.com

Chris Musgrave from Flaxby Park Ltd. said: “We felt now was the right time to make it crystal clear just why our plans are so well placed to address the real needs of the Harrogate District. Right next to the A1, with an already installed new roundabout onto the A59, we also plan to reopen Goldsborough Railway Station as a new park and ride station offering direct rail services to Harrogate, Leeds and York.

“The fact our settlement is directly opposite a new employment site – Flaxby Green Business Park – is another huge benefit. Whilst other developers make vague references to existing railway stations which are under resourced and need significant improvements to make them fit to sustain so many new homes, we are committing to paying for, and building, a new 350 car parkway station within the site, which Network Rail agrees is deliverable.”

50% of Flaxby Park will consist of green open space, and the land is already controlled by Flaxby Park Ltd. Chris added: “With Flaxby Park there will be no disruption to the thousands of people who use the A59 daily, which would have to be diverted if the Hammerton proposal is approved.

“Our site is deliverable, fully costed, detailed and well designed. Our location close to Knaresborough and Harrogate will benefit both towns, and we’re looking forward to meeting anyone who wants to find out more about our plans on Saturday. We want to showcase the years of hard work that we have put into Flaxby Park, and can’t wait to demonstrate why the development makes such sense.”

Flaxby Park has been overlooked by Harrogate Borough Council and not included in the Draft Local Plan, which determines how future developments are carried out, mapping out where new houses should be built.

The Council recommended a new settlement in an undefined area around Kirk Hammerton, Green Hammerton and Cattal which has been met with fierce opposition. The Draft Local Plan has finally been submitted by the Council to the Secretary of State so it can be independently scrutinised. An independent Planning Inspector will now consider all of the evidence before making a final decision.

CGI images, detailed plans and more will all be on display at the Imperial Rooms, and one of the region’s most respected architects, Michael Wildblood MBE, of architecture practice Wildblood Macdonald, alongside development director Matt Johnson, from Flaxby Park Ltd. will be available to answer any questions.

To attend the event email RSVP@flaxbypark.com by Friday 14th September.
